How To Make Epoxy Resin Dry Faster

How To Make Epoxy Resin Dry Faster? Always follow the ratio instructions. Improper mixing or inaccurate measurements prevent the chemical reaction between molecules in Part A and molecules in Part B (polymerization) to occur correctly.  The molecular structure is affected and consequently, your resin will remain sticky, or it will not cure in some places. It is a big misconception to think that by adding more hardener (PART B) the epoxy will actually cure faster. By adding more hardener to a 2:1 or 1:1 ratio CHILL EPOXY product, you will change the stoichiometry and also unbalance the ratio causing the epoxy to stay soft or sticky.

To make the epoxy cure faster, you can raise the ambient temperature once the epoxy has passed its exothermic peak. Adding a few degrees over the recommended pouring temperature will help speed up the curing process. This technique is commonly used when resins are poured at colder temperature and the curing process is affected.

How to Speed Up the CHILL EPOXY’s Cure Time:

Increase the room temperature: The perfect room temperature for curing the CHILL EPOXY products  72ºF / 22ºC. C. Temperatures will affect the Cure time.

Warmer temperatures will accelerate the curing while colder temperatures slowdown curing the curing process.

What to avoid to accelerate the Cure Time: How to Make Epoxy Resin Dry Faster?

  1. Avoid at all cost adding more hardener to the mixture.
  2. Don’t use another CHILL EPOXY hardener to make it dry faster. It will affect the stoichiometry and the epoxy is more likely to stay liquid, tacky or soft.
  3. Avoid  add any diluent or solvents to the mixture to try to create a more reactive system.

In conclusion, at Polymeres Technologies, we pride ourselves in formulating premium epoxy systems. Safety is a priority and we never cut corners. By not using harsh chemical and commodity raw materials we are able to create exceptional crystal-clear systems with superior UV protection against yellowing. We do not cut down on the additive that allows curing. While cheaper brands will use commodity raw materials and already yellow accelerators, we use superior crystal-clear ones.

While fast-setting epoxy tends to yellow faster, we have formulated systems with stronger resistance than most resins. Also, since we have formulated different systems for specific projects and thickness, our products when poured at the recommended temperature will not overheat and yellow.
